2020 BAND CAMP POSTPONED! NEW TENTATIVE DATES
MARCHING BAND POSSIBLE RETURN SURVEYHello Concord Music Families,
The three BSD Band Directors, under the supervision of district personnel, came up with an outline for a POTENTIAL fall Marching Band season if certain conditions allow. (See below)
Here is a survey with a link to the State’s guidance and our outline for what we would envision the fall marching season to look like. We would like you to review that document and fill out the survey to gauge if there is enough support to pursue an attempt to have a Marching Band season this fall.
One thing is certain, no matter what, Band Camp that was scheduled to begin August 3rd will not be happening. If conditions ultimately prove permissible, band camp would be moved to the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday afternoons, and evenings of 8/25, 8/26, 8/27, 9/1, 9/2, 9/3, 9/8, 9/9 & 9/10. (The tentative camp schedule and more information has been updated at www.domenicpisano.com)MARCHING BAND SURVEY LINK: https://forms.gle/vmFsWA6CTMEzcHEV7
Please fill out the survey so we can have information to help us proceed and feel free to email me at Domenic.email@example.com if you have any questions. Please share this will anyone you think might need this information.Thank You, Dr, PisanoBrandywine School District Fall 2020 Marching Band Potential Plan
Below is a set of agreed-upon conditions by the three Brandywine School District Band Directors for a possible 2020 Marching Band season, submitted for approval.
Band Camp:Band Camp will move TENTATIVELY to the afternoon/evenings of August 25, 26, 27, September 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, & 10.Rehearsals after those dates then Bands’ will TENTATIVELY revert to each school’s normal weekly rehearsal schedule.
Rehearsals:Rehearsals will follow the DE Department of Education’s guidance for Marching Band (https://www.dropbox.com/s/p86s0o4uaorq9vt/bandguidance_72020.pdf?dl=0). See the above link for more details.
Travel/Uniforms:Bands will not travel to competitions or away football games. Alternate washable and individual student uniforms will be used instead of our formal school-owned uniforms.
Performances:Home football game participation will be based on DIAA, BSD, and DOE guidance when it becomes available. Band’s festival performances will be adjudicated through the virtual/master class options provide by Cavalcade of Bands at the director’s discretion on their school’s football field or practice field. Performances may be live-streamed for audiences to view at home.
Cancellation of the 2020 Marching Season:Marching Band at BSD will not run in 2020 if any of the below conditions occur:
- If fall sports are canceled
- If there is no “live” in-person school instruction
- If there is a BSD policy prohibiting after-school activities
Cancellation by Director’s Discretion: Reasons individual Directors may decide not to run a 2020 Marching Band season for their Schools:
- If Football is moved or canceled, each director will decide for their own programs if a marching season will continue for only Cavalcade virtual adjudication.
- Survey results. (See Below)
- Other building-specific issues.
2020 Marching Band Plan Parent and Student Survey:A survey with this plan will be generated and distributed to all prospective 2020 BSD Marching Band students and parents to gauge if there will be enough support to pursue a season under the above conditions. Directors will then determine if it is in their program’s best interests to continue with the Marching Band season.
